Overview

Systems are now being deployed that permit the capture, retention, manipulation, transmission and display of high quality images for internal business and customer service applications.

With the implementation of today's digital document archiving systems the emphasis has grown from archives for legal reasons to encompass archives for customer service reasons.

The quest for improved customer service has led to demand for faster access of higher integrity images across distributed networks. Increased network traffic and growing storage demands are now driving smaller stored image sizes.

With Déjar, DASS provides a Windows-based multi-tier application offering 100% true bill images at less than a third of the industry's accepted stored-image size. Déjar can support three major print spools in the same product, and resource management is eliminated.

Déjar reduces the paper load in business as well as increasing the efficiency of the organisation in support of such business goals as "expedited time to market", "just in time inventory", "customer services and customer focus", and "information-based marketing".

Déjar has been developed to solve both tactical and strategic objectives. Tactically, Déjar helps organisations downsize ("right-size") the office, eliminate paperwork, and re-engineer work processes, while leveraging technology as a strategic tool to increase revenues and respond more rapidly to customer needs and business opportunities.

Déjar offers major advantages over legacy solutions like microfiche. Archived documents can be copied as many times as needed without suffering the degradation associated with analog-based solutions.

Being digital, the application can be networked, and therefore can be used without leaving the desktop. Finally, Déjar archives can be indexed with some flexibility, offering search advantages microfiche cannot match.

These advantages translate into reduced storage costs, increased productivity, improved response time for distributing quality copies, and reduced chance of document loss. Déjar saves "hard-dollar" costs associated with print time, paper, microfiche, and labour associated with filing, tracking and re-filing invoice copies. In addition, the "soft-dollar" benefits like faster customer service, improved search time, and office space can be substantial.

Déjar improves the benefits by automating the archive production, saving on proprietary databases and computer hardware, and saving on storage space and associated network traffic. In most instances, customer support staff can have access to archives of the customer communication before the original is received.

Déjar generates images directly from the print spool, accurately imitating the printer engine. It is not a product that creates images from existing paper documents, but can integrate these external images into its indexing structure so that they may be linked to, and subsequently viewed from, the Déjar-generated image.
